Use:

The dataset is foreseen to be used for estimation of the Arctic climate change and comparison with model simulations

Parameters contained:

Monthly and annual mean surface air temperature (in deg.C) measured at the 2 m height on 38 meteorological stations

Spatial coverage:

Part of the Northern Hemisphere to the north of 60o N

Temporal coverage:

The start date in accordance with the start of observation at different stations is from 1813 to 1951. End date of the data collected in CLIMAS database is 1999-2000, though all stations (except Mys Shalaurova station, N21647) continue observations

Spatial resolution:

Irregularly spaced dataset with 39 data points (stations) north of 60o N

Temporal resolution:

Monthly/annual means

Data are in .mdb format

Comments:

Each data file contains temperature data for specific meteorological station. The name of the file corresponds to the station number according to WMO Catalogue. See the list of the stations, their identification numbers, coordinates and operation periods in a table below.
